God is one God in three distinct persons.
The three persons of God are the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and are often referred to collectively as the Trinity. Each person of the Trinity has a unique role.
The Father is the person of the Trinity who loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for us so we can be restored to a right relationship with Him. Unlike so many earthly fathers, God the Father loves us unconditionally. He’s the perfect version of what a father should be.
Jesus is God's Son and is the person of the Trinity who restores us to a right relationship with God. He came to Earth fully human and fully God, lived the perfect life we couldn't live, and died the death we deserve. Because of His life, death, and resurrection, we can be made right with God.
The Holy Spirit is the person of the Trinity who guides us into the truth of God. When we put our faith in Christ, we’re not only made right with God, but the Holy Spirit comes in our hearts to counsel us, to teach us, and to intercede on our behalf so we can know God more and more.
As the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, God has a unique and infinite character. He is unlike anyone we've ever met or will ever meet. His names reveal the intricacies of His character, though we as humans will never fully understand all of who He is. All of Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, is a book written by God about God.
